Schumer Attacks Battered Women with New Bill

New York — “Another shameless and hollow gimmick by Wall Street Chuck”

Schumer’s cell phone sign up bill is little more than a shameless and hollow gesture giving the appearance that Schumer is tough on terrorism, but yet again, at the expense of poor people.

Requiring that identification be produced at the point of sale, transmitted to the cell phone company and then maintained by the cell phone company will not only dramatically increase the price of prepaid cell phones, it will have a chilling effect on the number of vendors willing to put up with the hassle of the paperwork.  Fewer stores will offer prepaid phones for sale, and those that do will increase the price.

Who uses prepaid cell phones, aside from terrorists?  Children across the state, whose parents are wisely proactive when it comes to limiting the amount of time and expense of their children’s phone usage, but who know that in the times we live in, cell phones for children, are a necessity. Poor people, who may not have the necessary documentation and credit to qualify for a cell phone plan.  People who are out of work, but desperately seeking employment -it is next to impossible to secure a job without providing a contact phone number.  And battered women living in a shelter who can not provide proof of address, for whom access to a phone could mean the difference between life and death.

What will requiring proof of identity at the point of sale, and maintaining a record of that identity, accomplish for the war against terrorism, virtually nothing.  Fake identification cards are a dime a dozen.  Those who plan on using a prepaid cell phone for nefarious purposes will be the most adept at providing false documentation – and the most able to absorb the additional cost.  And what information will be available to law enforcement?  Just a name and not an address to which a bill is regularly delivered, not a place of employment, not a bank account or credit card number.  Chuck needs to ask himself – what is that name worth?  Not a lot to law enforcement, but a big expense that poor people can ill afford.

Schumer Says It ‘Makes Sense’ To ‘Strangle [Gaza] Economically’ Until It Votes The Way Israel Wants

Schumer Says It ‘Makes Sense’ To ‘Strangle [Gaza] Economically’ Until It Votes The Way Israel Wants. Check Out This Link: http://thinkprogress.org/2010/06/11/schumer-strangle-gaza-economically/

“”Charles Schumer needs to immediately retract his poisonous and pandering remarks. He does not represent the people of New York, the people of the United States, and the people of the world…”
- Randy Credico

After Schumer’s inflammatory and reprehensible comments about Gaza, there has been a huge surge of support for Randy Credico, a surge so big that even the Press cannot ignore it. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle just published and distributed to the entire state an article about the Credico Campaign while various news blogs and college newspapers continue to express interest in this important race (http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20100613/NEWS01/6130324/1002/NEWS). Needless to stay, this campaign is moving forward in big ways.

For the past week Credico and his small army of dedicated volunteers have been petitioning around the whole state, making noise and garnering support along the way (Pictures Soon to Come). From Albany and the Fred Dicker Show, to the Queens and Brooklyn Pride Parades, to the Mets Game and Union Square, Credico has been tirelessly working to chuck the war mongering Chuck Schumer out of office on behalf of the peace loving New York Citizens.

BUT

Although we are gaining momentum we still need help. To even be considered on the Democratic Primary Ballot we need 15,000 signatures. In the past week Credico and his army have secured an incredible and impressive amount of these signatures, showing that we have the support of the entire state, however we still need more support from people like YOU.

We need YOU to go out and get signatures for Randy Credico. Only with YOUR support will we be able to give the people of New York the option to vote for someone other than the corporate pro-war candidate Chuck Schumer.

We Need YOU to forward this email to your friends. Encourage people you know to get involved in this campaign by donating money or time to this important cause.

Finally We Need YOU to make a donation to the Campaign. Without the help of corporate donors we rely on our individual supporters to help cover the increasing costs of winning an election.

Politics on the Hudson:Credico wants to ‘chuck’ Schumer

By admin

June  9, 2010

Comedian and political activist Randy Credico was in Albany today dressed as a dead Greek philosopher trying to drum up petition signatures.

Credico, 55, is launching a primary campaign against U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. He’s realistic about his chances against Schumer, but the Manhattan resident wants voters to take notice that the senior senator isn’t liberal enough for New York.

“He’s supported two wars,” said Credico, who talks in long paragraphs, punctuated with occasional impressions of political figures. “How can you support him as a Democrat?”

His campaign slogan: “Let’s chuck Schumer.”

He is also in favor of relaxing drug laws in the state, which he believes are too onerous on small-time offenders.

Credico needs at least 15,000 signatures from registered Democrats to gain a spot on the September primary ballot. Credico has been appearing at various political functions around the state. He was spotted at the state Democratic convention in Rye Brook wearing a Nixon mask. During the leadership coup in the state Senate last year, Credico stood outside the chamber dressed as the Greek philosopher Diogenes.

“He was looking for the last honest man,” Credico said of Diogenes.

With that, he again donned his Diogenes costume—which consisted of a rubber mask, a white whig and long white robe—on stood on the sidewalk outside the state Capitol Building in Albany to seek signatures.

“Let’s send a message to Chuck Schumer that he’s not in the British House of Lords,” Credcio-as-Diogenes said.

A passerby responded, “But I like Chuck Schumer.”
